Youfei Guan
B.S. and M.S. in Medicine in 1986 and 1989 from Nantong Medical College; Ph.D. degree in 1994 from Beijing Medical University; Postdoctoral training starting from 1994 for 5 years in Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at Vanderbilt University. Then research assistant professor and tenure-tract assistant professor in Department of Medicine and Diabetes Center at Vanderbilt from 1999. Professor of Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology, Peking University Health Science Center since 2002. Changjiang Professor of the Ministry of Education from 2005.
CURRENT POSITION: Vice director of Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology, Co-director of Peking University Diabetes Center. Member of American Physiological Society (APS), American Society of Nephrology (ASN), American Diabetes Association (ADA), Chinese Society of Physiology (CSP) et al. Invited reviewer of NIH-NIDDK of USA, National Nature Science Foundation of China, Ministry of Education, and more than 20 journals including the American Journal of Physiology.
RESEARCH INTERESTS: focused on prostaglandin receptors including PGE2 receptors such as EP1, EP2 and EP4 receptors and metabolic nuclear receptors such as peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR) and liver X receptors (LXRs), as well as their role in diabetes, hypertension, lipid metabolism disorder, obesity and related renal complications.
